Snap’s Ben Schwerin to Join as General Partner as We Expand Our Reach to Los Angeles
We are excited to announce the addition of Ben Schwerin, who joins from Snap Inc., as a General Partner. Ben will lead our consumer and internet investment efforts across early- and growth-stage strategies. He joins our growing bench of exceptional business operators-turned-investors who are identifying the next great founders and helping our portfolio companies scale. Ben will be based out of Los Angeles, where we are expanding with the opening of a new office there this summer.
Ben has developed deep expertise managing media, mobile, and platform partnerships as well as internal, growth, and content strategy efforts. He was most recently Senior Vice President of Content and Partnerships at Snap, where he oversaw all of the company’s progress related to content and partnerships globally. In this role, Ben was responsible for building out Snap’s global strategic relationships with Disney, NBC Universal, Live Nation, Google, Verizon, the NFL, the NBA, and many others. Prior to Snap, Ben co-founded Fenway Strategies, a strategic communications firm, and also worked for Bill Clinton and U2 frontman Bono.
Since we launched our growth investing business in Silicon Valley a decade ago, Los Angeles has been on our radar as the next natural expansion of our West Coast presence. We look forward to tapping into the city’s hub of creative content, consumer media, and talent with our new office.
“Now more than ever, founders at all stages need investors who can provide real, actionable business advice as they grow and scale their operations. Having spent more than eight years inside one of the most exciting social media companies alongside a visionary founder and leadership team, Ben will be a huge asset to our platform. We are thrilled to welcome Ben and continue our quest to support world-shaping technology companies,” said Thomas Laffont, Co-Founder, Coatue.
